Don't let go of the Cross

Don’t let go.

What ever you do, what ever happen, don’t let go of the cross. The cross; it is the only means by which you may gain entrance to the Kingdom of God. When you have problems in your life, it is not in all cases, that they are kept under a bushel. There are times when it is out in the open for every one to see. The way in which you handle your self in those situations will determine your final destination. It is true that at times when the cares of this life get unbearable we want to let go in order to tend to our wounds. It is true that when the tide gets high, we are tempted to let go in order for us to try and swim to the shores of safety. You must remember that the hardest times on the seas of life, is not near to the shores or in shallow waters. Not at all, it always come when the sea is raging or we are out in the deep ocean. Now these are oceans of uncontrollable, and testing circumstances which engulf us. Do you find yourself too far out in the middle of nowhere; I mean no one seems to care? Even if they do, they are too busy taking care of their own problems and have no time to see you. If you find yourself in trouble just because the current beneath your feet is rumbling furiously, if you are convinced that if you should let go you would be swept away; then hold fast to the cross and never let go.

What does the cross means to me? Let me tell what it means and why I cherish it so much. To me, the cross is not just a piece of wood anymore. Whenever I lift my heart to pray and the cross appears before me, I see a glorious light beaming from where the cross once stood. The wages of sin is to go to the cross and die, but The Father’s gift in giving His only Son changes things. Why should our lives be filled with darkness when Jesus, the Light is standing by?

Whenever I lift my heart in prayer, I ask Jesus our redeemer, to cover me with His life and tone my voice so it will sound like His by the time my reaches His Father. Whenever I lift my heart in prayer, and the cross appears before me, it reminded me of my duty to the life giver.

"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" Hebrews 8: 27, 28. Because of the death of our Savior Jesus Christ, there is no need for me to die for my sins! Jesus already did that for me. "It is finished!" No need for burnt offerings. The practice of the earthly sanctuary is done away with. The curtains are rented and exposed the most sacred place on earth to the eyes of every one. "It is finished!" Christ’s blood has taken the place of the bloods of animals.

Whenever I lift my heart in prayer, and the cross appears before me, I see the feet of Jesus. As I go down to my knees to pray, I tray to use my teary face to cover the scars of the nail prints on His feet. Whenever I lift my heart in prayer, and the cross appears before me, I see Him standing on angel’s wings. Whenever I lift my heart in prayer, and the cross appears before me, O how I pray that He would touch and comfort me. What ever happen, don’t let go, hold on to the cross.

The Crossroad takes you to the Cross. Which way are you heading dear friend? Is it your intention to stand in the middle of the crossroad, doing nothing? "Remember Lot’s wife." ST Luke 18: 32. What happen to Lot’s wife? "But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt." Genesis 19: 26.

I was at the crossroad just wasting time. No, I did not have Heaven on my mind. I wanted to have the finer things of life that this perishable world had to offer. I strive to please my self and those who were living on the side of the street where lustful pleasure was the way to go. Like Lot’s wife, I turned around; I left the center of the crossroad and headed toward destruction. How precious is the blood of the Lamb of God? It has the power to change a sinner’s life; it did wonders for me.

"Hold on don’t let go:" Eternal life comes through the connection with the cross. If we have any intention whatsoever of getting to heaven, then we must travel the same road which the Savior traveled on. He had to go through the cross to get to Heaven and back to His Father. Did it end at the cross; did the Savior’s death put an end to us striving to be true to He and His Father?

After the fall of man:

For generations some bible teachers have been teaching that when the Savior hanged His head and died on the cross of Calvary that was it! Is that the way you see it? I cannot and I will not accept that. After the fall of man, there are four stages to which the redemption of mankind has to go through. Four stages which directly link us as human to the Son of God. 1st His birth as the Man Child, 2nd His death on the cross for our sins, 3rd His ascension to Glory to intercede on our behalf. 4th and last but in no wise the least. He will be coming back to take us to heaven and present us to His Gracious Father. These days if some one do you a favor once, they hardly want to do so the second time. But Jesus our Savior, Priest and King, extended these favors which none other could or can do for us except Him. "O what a Savior, O hallelujah!"

What can you do so that He can fulfill His will in you? Take up the cross and run! But wait! Hold on, which direction are you running to? Are you running toward where the sun is setting? Or are you going toward the east? Let us get our houses in order and look toward the rising sun. Let us not get weary and dreary because of the problems of this world. Let us look toward the rising sun, with the glorious hope of seeing Him when He descends from Glory. Whatever you do, do not let go of this your wonderful and glorious hope. "He is even at the door:" Whatever you do, hold on to the cross and do not let go!
